R’john Bernales and Chris Turcotte’s fan art version for Batman & Robin featuring Clayface. Which in all honesty, DC should hire these two because this interpretation is goddamn beautiful.

Damn it DC there are so many skilled people that do these wonderful things featuring your characters that should be hired on the spot. You should have scouts, people explicitly for looking for media talent like this on social media, blogs and the like.

This is jaw dropping.

I hope Beware the Batman looks like this

Robin isn’t going to be in this show. It’s going to be Katana taking Robin’s place

BUT KNOWING THE BATFANDOM PEOPLE WILL BITCH AND MOAN OVER KATANA BEING IN IT BECAUSE HOW DARE A NON WHITE WOMAN TAKE THE PLACE OF A WHITE MALE

Partly, maybe, but honestly the reason I’m upset beware the batman won’t have robin is because DAMIAN WAYNE FUCKING DIED! Katana’s fine, it’s awesome they’re going to have a character of color but things you should probably already know:

1) having Robin doesn’t mean having Dick Grayson, it can, but there are other Robins

2) Damian, the newly dead robin is (depending slightly on which origin of al’gul you prefer) is mixed race, and raised by the not-white part of his family. Steph, another robin is not male or a man.

3) We keep losing our Robins; we like our Robins; DC keeps trying to prevent our robins (mainly Steph) from existing.

4) Batman CAN BE AWESOME WITH MULTIPLE ASSISTANTS. HAVING ROBIN DOES NOT EXCLUDE HAVING KATANA AND VICEA VERCA.

And there we have it people

The very section of the fandumb I was talking about

Kinda want to erase that last comment because aside from that, both people have valid points. Katana equals awesome non white non male side kick. Damian equals awesome non white option, Steph equals awesome non male option. All three equals triple the awesome.

I really just reblogged for the art and didn’t really look at the commentary underneath until after ^^;

I had a little too much fun with this

Thanks. This made me laugh. Needed that after the whole Tim not Robin but Red Robin from the get-go issue. Everything is like a badly written fanfiction right now. LOL

You know why I like this? Because it’s true.
Damian is many things. There are many things he as yet does not understand, because he is a child. But there is something that has been DRILLED into him from BIRTH and that is honour and loyalty. He has been constantly told he MUST become the Batman and everything he does is a step toward that.
Batman is anything but petty.
Damian’s crusade against Tim becomes petty, childishly, meaningless, without his history as a Robin, all things Damian has actively attempting to avoid being because Batman always has meaning, Batman is always serious.
If Tim was never Robin then Damian would never have had an excuse to attack him initially — he never would have felt Tim was a threat, never would have felt that killing Tim was what he needed to do to secure his place as Robin, as the next Batman. Tim’s mistrust and hatred of Damian is spawned from the fact that in their initial encounters, Damian attempted to take his life.
Tim was never Robin. He and Damian should, by the basis of the canon that DC set us, be friends, or at the very least, not viciously wishing harm upon the other, nor acting upon that wish.
An extension of this that I just really quickly wanna touch on is Jason — his anger with Tim is almost completely eliminated. He was never replaced, and while his anger at Bruce’s inability to avenge him would still be there, the ‘You didn’t ever love me, you just picked up a new kid and move on’ wouldn’t. This makes Jason’s hate for Tim as equally petty as Damian’s.
Tim’s relationship with Dick would be unbelieveably altered as well, because Tim was never his little brother.
I also question what this means for Steph and for Cass.
Basically this is my way of waving my finger at DC like a naughty child and being like “You fucked up the bat family. This is your mess. Now you pick up that cloth there and you fix it. Bad!”
